The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), has commended the Man O’ War, Unilorin Command, for the display of exemplary discipline and enviable character, saying it is a dependable partner in progress with the University authority.
Prof. Ambali gave the commendation penultimate Saturday (May 16, 2015) at the Passing out Parade of the Man O’ War, at the University Stadium, where he was also decorated as the Grand Commander of all Paramilitary Organisations on Campus.
Prof. Ambali noted, “Every student came to the University for two reasons: to be educated academically and to be moulded into good citizens that the country would be proud of”. He added that “the Man O’ War has been a good partner with the University administration in helping to mould the character of students against joining cult groups.”
He then expressed his appreciation to the Man O’ War for the honour done to him, saying he would forever treasure the honour.
Also honoured at the colourful ceremony were the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, Patron of Man O’ War; the Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. O. A. Omotesho; the Sub-Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. A. Yusuf; and Dr. Y. Ahmed of the Chemistry Department.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Unilorin Man O’ War Command, Mr. Adesanya Musbaudeen, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and members of his management team for finding time to attend the Passing Out Parade. He pledged that the organisation would continue to contribute its quota to the development of the University.
Highlights of the occasion included colourful parades by detachments of the Man O’ War Command with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali, taking the traditional salute.
